About Robert Creigh
I am currently the Director of AI and Education at Practicing Musician, where I spend time with other passionate music educators! Our aim is to amplify ourselves as educators and musicians through the best methods that always have the human at the center of creativity, teaching, and learning. My passion for teaching grew when I taught guitar and ukulele at Guitar Center in Bellingham, Washington. After three wonderful years there, I taught undergraduate classes at Florida State University for three years. I taught the music survey (Antiquity to 1750 and 1750 to the present), music appreciation, and modern popular music. My dissertation,"Georg Joseph Vogler's 'Samori': Representation and Difference in Early Nineteenth-Century Opera," involves a highly distinct portrayal of India for its time, which includes incorporating information from late eighteenth-century sources by scholars who spent several years in India. My overall aim of the dissertation is to give researchers more tools for assessing and performing works that involve two or more disparate cultures.
