About Robert Cross

Robert is a Professional Engineer and Geoscientist in the provinces of British Columbia and Ontario, and has worked in a variety of geological and geotechnical settings, including locations with high seismic hazards, residual soils, liquefaction susceptibility, peaty and compressible soils, and karstic terrain. He has extensive experience in the design of mine site infrastructure, including foundations, laydown yards, excavations, dams, and embankments. He has worked on the development and implementation of dam safety management systems, and risk assessment programs, for project sites in North America, South America, and Africa. He has worked on the design, construction, and rehabilitation of dams and civil infrastructure including: tailings dams, water retaining structures, deep and shallow foundations, and embankments for highways and bridges. His experience includes work with lightweight fills, characterization of liquefaction susceptibility of various soils profiles, including tailings, and the design and implementation of a variety of ground improvement techniques. He has also performed both 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional dynamic run-out analysis for proposed mine waste dumps, with respect to their potential impact on downstream structures.
