About Robert Dawson

Since 2010 I have been involved in lubricant oil, coolant, fuel, grease, and electrical oil testing with ALS, an independent laboratory group. During this time I have held a number of positions including that of a Laboratory Technician, Diagnostician, Senior Diagnostician, Business Development Manager, Regional Manager WA, and am currently the General Manager APAC for ALS Oil & Lubricants. During my time as a Diagnostician I spent several years providing diagnostic support to two laboratories in New South Wales and a third in New Zealand before taking on a leadership role in the Western Australian diagnostics team. As a Business Development Manager I was responsible for business development, training, and other high-end customer support for ALS Oil & Lubricants’ clients in Western Australia. Our client base includes extensive exposure to the mining sector, including mobile, fixed plant, and locomotive assets. In April 2022, I was appointed Regional Manager WA for ALS Oil & Lubricants. in this role I was responsible for the operations of our Perth laboratory and our client base throughout Western Australia. This role was expanded in September 2025 when I was appointed the interim General Manager APAC with oversight of the Oil & Lubricants business across Australia and New Zealand in addition to responsibility for business development in Asia. I am a strong proponent for working collaboratively with our clients and driving win-win outcomes that benefit all parties. I hold a Bachelors degree in Chemical & Process Engineering, a Master of Business Administration, am member of the Institute of Engineers Australia, and am a Certified Level II Machinery Lubrication Analyst (ISO 18436-4, II).
