About Robert Delaney

Although 80% of my career has been dedicated to environmental protection, I have had a rather dispassionate attitude towards environmentalism. Being somewhat of a historian, I concluded long ago that once we invented nuclear weapons, they were going to be used again. Trying to get excited about environmental causes was therefore difficult. But then a biblical scholar pointed out to me that God's attitude towards the environment was quite passionate. In Revelations 11:18 it is recounted that, when the,".time has come to judge the dead," it was also time to,".destroy those who destroy earth." We are seeing widespread destruction of the environment at the present time as fisheries collapse, third world countries dump massive amounts of contamination in to the environment, the globe heats up, increasing numbers of new chemicals are created and tried on nature and humans without testing, etc. I am finding that passion for the protection of the environment, our environment, which escaped me in the past. I am fortunate to work in a field where I find both meaning and challenge in what I do. Specialties: Environmental geology, defense site environmental clean ups, Formerly Used Defense Site program, perfluoroalkyl chemical contamination investigation
