Robert is a Partner in Loeb Smith's international practice, specialising in:(1) investment funds - formation and launch (including cryptocurrency / digital asset funds), portfolio investments and financing;(2) corporate - cross-border M&A, joint ventures, acquisitions, reorganizations, private equity and merger take privates;(3) banking and finance - acting for both borrowers and lenders with transactions ranging from international real estate finance and VC, private equity and general corporate and commercial lending; and (4) commercial - general commercial advisory work ranging from trade and business licensing, local companies control licensing, strategic advice on economic substance compliance, consignment agreements, services agreements and IP licensing. Robert advises in respect of both Cayman Islands and British Virgin Islands matters. Robert also has over 12 years’ prior experience as a finance lawyer in the UK, representing senior business leaders and financial institutions, often on high-profile, high-value transactions. Robert has a demonstrable track record in winning new business and referring opportunities to his clients. Unlike many lawyers, Robert can ‘evaluate the numbers’, enabling him to provide advice in a commercially relevant context. In addition to his legal qualifications, Robert also has qualifications from the London School of Economics & Political Science in Real Estate Economics and Finance.
