About Robert Fitzgerald

As the Director of Erie County Senior Center, I lead a community-based organization that serves over older adults annually through various programs and resources, such as the Meals on Wheels program for Seniors of Erie County. My mission is to enhance the quality of life and well-being of our senior population, while respecting their dignity and independence. I work with a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, as well as external partners and stakeholders, to deliver effective and efficient services, and to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. I have more than 10 years of experience in the nuclear industry, where I developed strong skills and knowledge in nuclear security and access authorization. Prior to joining the senior center, I was an Advanced Nuclear Specialist at Energy Harbor, where I reviewed information for applicants to obtain unescorted access to the nuclear site. I also worked as a Nuclear Security Officer at FirstEnergy, where I protected critical areas from nuclear sabotage and conducted vehicle searches and behavior investigations. I hold a Certified Reviewing Official credential from the Nuclear Energy Institute and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Toledo. I leverage my nuclear security background and expertise to enhance the safety and security of the senior center and its participants.
