About Robert Ford

IT experience (government contracting & commercial) with a background in project management, software development team leadership, and solution architecture for enterprise software applications. Currently supporting GDIT FedCiv SBA DCMS contract at the Small Business Administration as a Project Manager. I have managed a cross-functional team ranging in size from 10 to 30 FTEs over multiple contracts ($12M to $30M). I currently lead a 13-person team of GDIT employees and subcontractors which provide software development O&M services for SBA’s legacy loan origination platform (DCMS). My team has helped the SBA modernize and/or decommission their legacy financial systems, converting them to cloud-based, low-code replacements (Salesforce / Azure / AWS). My technical background enables me to foster effective communications between development, test, operations, and government stakeholders. I have experience with Scaled Agile Framework for Lean Enterprises (SAFe) and have conducted several PI Planning Sessions at the SBA. Over my career, I have functioned in several roles – Project Manager, Technical Lead, Scrum Master, Release Manager, Developer and system integration engineer. I oversee the planning, development, and testing of mission critical software releases while ensuring solid contract & financial performance. I am a good technical writer and have supported several GDIT recompetes and RFP responses. Before GDIT, I worked in the commercial space at a woman-owned small business (WOSB) supporting commercial software development. My passion is solutioning with business analysts, developers, testers, and then explaining the complex technical subjects to executive leadership in easy-to-understand terms.
