As an Insurance Coordinator primary responsibility is coordinating a patients insurance benefits and procuring Authorization to treat patients under said insurance. This includes submitting paperwork (Universal Health Form) to the Nurse Manager and treating RN in a timely manner. This is required by the Insurance Agency for continued stay Authorization requests. Responsibilities also include monitoring insurance to ensure that policies are in place and that lapses in coverage are avoided. Additional responsibilities include reviewing and addressing insurance invoices; written and verbal authorizations. The day to day responsibilities include, but are not limited to: maintaining databases; excel and various applications; interfacing with insurance case managers, nurse managers and RN’s, physicians and physician office personnel and billing company personnel. As a Contract coordinator duties include drafting, evaluation, negotiation and execution of various contracts such as: formal long form provider contracts and short form private pay contracts. Serve as the point of contact for Insurance companies and act as contractual “middleman” between contracted Insurance companies and Nizhoni Health Systems on contractual matters. As needed, provide guidance on contract matters to managers and other Insurance coordinators in the MMIS department.
