Background
About Robert Guimond
Robert Guimond became a pioneer in the electric bike industry thanks to his curiosity. His interest for innovation dates back a long time, when Robert makes his debut at Fonorola, a small Quebec company in the fiber optic industry. As he comes into contact with several technology companies, Robert moves from fiber optics to telecommunications, then finally finds himself at BionX in 2004. While Robert is a business development consultant at BionX, he has a keen interest in the company's revolutionary wheel hub motor. Fascinated, Robert attaches himself to the electric bike industry and anticipates a market explosion. Distinguishing himself in the industry, Robert Guimond has the privilege of serving the first wheel hub motor from BionX to Markus Riese, founder of Riese & Müller. Subsequently, he is approached for a mandate in France at Matra MS where he is responsible for building a network with sales representatives. Back in Canada, Robert lands a contract with Solex, another manufacturing company that intends to expand into the electric bicycle market. There, he supervises the conception of the first electric model, the Solex City. In 2014, Solex is acquired by another company, which marks the end of Robert's involvement with the organization. Robert Guimond then decides to found Quantum in 2015 in a small shop on St-Ambroise, in Montreal. There, he sells the Solex City, a familiar and symbolic model of his journey. As the company expands, Quantum opens a new store near the Atwater Market, a place known as the biking paradise. The company then starts manufacturing new folding electric bicycle models under its own brand name and keeps developing its R&D branch to adapt to the new consumer needs. In 2022, Quantum opens a 2nd location in Gatineau, QC, on June 22nd. Today, Quantum is proud to be the first Gazelle bicycle retailer in Canada, and has the ambition to revolutionize the North American market.
