About Robert Harvey

I thought my passion was to be an educator. Despite "never using my degree" I was completely accurate with this bit of self assessment. Turns out my students are 21 & up. Early on in my career as a server I quickly learned that it was the story behind the bottle that moved the consumer to take action. Even if they didn't purchase that evening they left my table feeling empowered with a little knowledge to drop. As a sales professional in the beverage industry you have the unique privilege and enormous responsibility of communicating all of the time, money, effort, and pride that creates that brands story to consumers and buyers in a concise and compelling way. This is the case with other industries too but lets face it, alcoholic beverages are more fun! I am not brilliant in any sense of the word, just smart enough to know that I have a lot to learn. Part of being an impactful educator is having a humble willingness to learn from others. Striving to increase my knowledge is fundamental to who I am. Podcast, books, industry publications are a constant part of my day. Always present in this equation is learning from your target audience as the student tends to be wiser than the master. However this characteristic is classified; a skill or a mindset it has proven vital to my career. Ever present will always be that desire to continuously improve by listening and learning from hospitality and beverage industry partners. I believe in the human spirit and the power of love and kindness. This belief is ever-present and unabashedly at the core of who I am both personally and professionally. Your energy and integrity dictate the type of relationships you create so why not make them as awesome as possible.
