About Robert Heberle
Robert Heberle is a former senior Department of Justice prosecutor with deep experience in the investigation, prosecution, jury trial, and appeal of high-profile and complex public corruption, election crime, and fraud matters throughout the United States. Mr. Heberle served as the Justice Department's foremost expert on all matters relating to election crime, including campaign finance offenses, all forms of voting fraud, patronage crimes, frauds affecting elections such as fraudulent fundraising schemes, other forms of corruption of the election process, and criminal violations of federal voting rights statutes such as voter intimidation and voter suppression that do not have a basis in race, color, national origin, or religion. He led DOJ's nationwide election crimes program in three consecutive federal election cycles, coordinated the activities of all United States Attorney's Offices and FBI Field Offices, and served as the Department's principal subject matter expert on election-related policies and practice. As a supervisor in the Public Integrity Section, Mr. Heberle also helped to manage the largest and most prolific group of public corruption prosecutors in the country, while serving as one of the Department's leading experts on the handling of sensitive matters, including any matters involving Members of Congress or congressional staff. Mr. Heberle also served as a prosecutor in the Fraud Section, where he handled matters related to complex financial fraud offenses involving large financial institutions and corporations. He is the recipient of numerous Department awards including the Attorney General's John Marshall Award for Trial of Litigation, its highest award for attorney trial performance.
