About Robert Hines

I am an educator, teaching artist, director and workshop facilitator living in Chicago, Illinois. For more than two decades, I have worked with children and adults of all ages and ethnic backgrounds within a variety of educational and professional venues. As Adjunct Faculty at Elgin Community College, I taught theater courses: Improv for Theatre, Improv Ensemble Performance in the Theatre Department. I also directed and coached ECC's improv ensemble performance team. As a Director, I directed The Problem We All Live With; Auditorium Theater; Bedroom Farce, Second Space Theater; Circle Mirror Transformation, Second Space Theater; Machinal; Second Space TheaterAs a Teaching Artist, I have worked in a wide-range of capacities including children’s arts-in-education organizations, in-school workshops, community-based theater, and various summer youth drama camps. Also organized, taught, supervised and directed after-school programs as well as introduced drama in the classroom. As a Classroom Teacher, I have taught Third Grade in the Evanston/Skokie School District and Chicago Public School system. I taught third grade in a performing arts elementary school in Chicago, a magnet school in Evanston, and substitute taught in elementary schools in Chicago along with my various artistic, independent projects.
