About Robert Isaacson

Bob Isaacson is a historian and specialist in modern French and Jewish history, French-Israeli relations, antisemitism, and representations of Jews and the State of Israel in popular and political discourse. He holds a PhD in History from the George Washington University. His research examines the intersection of the French-Israeli diplomatic relationship and the transformation of the Left in France between 1944 and 1974. He has published articles on French media representations of the 1967 Six Day War, Dreyfus-era Catholic antisemitism in French colonial Algeria, and French political discourse and realignment in the 1970s. He has presented at conferences in the United States, Canada, and the U.K. Bob has been actively teaching at the university level since 2011, and at the high school level since 2017, and has conducted extensive archival research in state and organizational archives in France and the United States. Bob defended his dissertation, with distinction, in March 2017, and it has since been published through the US Library of Congress. He is currently the History Department Chair at the Katz Yeshiva High School of Boca Raton where he has built a team of outstanding historians researching and teaching across a broad range of aptitude levels.
