Twenty-two years of experience in the Supply Chain field, with expert level experience in transportation and logistics and supply chain metrics in a retail environment. Reporting to the Vice President of Supply Chain for Western Canada’s leading food and consumer goods retailer, I am responsible for the setting the strategic direction of Transportation Services in alignment with the company's overall strategic direction and objectives. I analyze Transportation and Supply Chain activities throughout the organization and develop strategic and tactical plans. I manage relationships with third party carriers and distribution centers, and ensure compliance with all existing distribution contracts and service agreements. Additionally, I develop transportation initiatives to drive expense reduction, freight recovery, process improvement, delivery performance, and customer service goals. I also analyze the annual freight movement of Outbound shipments and establish budget recommendations based on quantitative analysis and proposed new business and operating strategies. Other responsibilities include leading, directing, coaching and motivating Transportation and other Supply Chain team members; sustaining a consistent, long-term vision through continuous process improvement; and acting as project management team lead from a business user perspective. Skill set includes: • Understanding of business and management principles related to supply chain improvement, strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, and coordination of people and resources • Experience bidding/negotiating large spend transportation contracts • Knowledge of distribution centers, including receiving & material handling operations, procedures and challenges • Strong negotiation & contract management skills, superior analytical skills, ability to identify problems and develop solutions, detail oriented, very organized with the ability to multi-task • Knowledgeable about SCM software.
