About Robert Johns
Robert Johns was formerly Head of Social Work at the University of East London, where he continues to teach social work law after retiring form this post in 2010. With over 30 years' experience of statutory social work across all service users groups, he has taught applied social work law and policy in higher education since 1986. He was a Teacher Fellow at De Montfort University and led the qualifying MA in Social Work taught jointly with the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust. He has written extensively on social work law, mainly textbooks: Using the Law in Social Work (Sage); Ethics and Law for Social Workers (Sage); Capacity and Autonomy (Palgrave); Social Work, Social Policy and Older People (Sage). He is also a Reader in the Anglican Church serving in the Diocese of St. Albans.
