About Robert Kabel

I began my professional career in Washington working for two United States Senators. First, I served as Legislative Assistant to Senator Paul Fannin (R-AZ, a senior member of the Senate Finance Committee where I was responsible for tax and international trade matters. During those two years I experienced the full legislative process during development of the 1976 Tax Reform Act, from Committee hearings, to Senate Floor debate and the House-Senate Conference Committee. I served as Legislative Assistant and then Legislative Director from 1977-1981 to Senator Richard G. Lugar (R-IN). Senator Lugar served on the Senate Banking, Agriculture and Foreign Relations Committees where he was active on numerous issues. It was a remarkable experience working with Senator Lugar and many dedicated colleagues during those years. I departed the Lugar staff to work in the Reagan White House in the Office of Senate Legislative Affairs. After serving as Special Assistant for Legislative Affairs (Senate) to President Reagan, I entered private law and consulting practice in January,1985 first at Manatt Phelps & Phillips and since 2002 at Faegre Baker Daniels/FaegreBD Consulting from which I retired August 1, 2016. I have represented a wide range of clients in Washington and in Mexico and Latin America. My clients have included the safety net system for insurance policy holders (the National Organization of Life and Health Associations and the National Conference of State Insurance Guaranty Funds), the Bank Private Equity Coalition (composed of the private equity/VC subsidiaries of large commercial banks, the largest SBA guaranteed lender, major airlines, ASOCOFLORES, The American Chamber of Commerce in Brazil (Sao Paulo), intellectual rights organizations and others. More recently, I joined two business partners in launching Corporate Responsibility Partners, LLC. that provides health related services to Hispanics in the United States through ConsejoSano, a website and app.
