About Robert M. Steponovich

My professional focus continues to be making my organization better…better in terms of service, better in terms of financial performance, better in terms of operational efficiency and better in terms of its culture. I have achieved asset growth, improved cash management and investment performance, led service and process improvement projects, turned around a troubled credit union, and served as an executive in California's largest credit union. A bit over six years ago, I moved into the education sector, where I have enjoyed applying these skills in support of K-12 education in California and the state's students with disabilities. Effective organizational leadership certainly involves a will to win, strategic and market awareness, financial acumen, skill at aligning resources, continuous performance monitoring, and the ability to drive course corrections. However, I believe it requires more. A leader must also embody selfless values. The organization and its people must be a leader's focal points. Leaders should compel their organizations to keep promises. A leader needs to radiate energy and live with integrity, be quick to credit success to those who truly brought it about, and just as quickly take personal responsibility for setbacks. Leaders should be characterized by others as authentic, accessible, and collaborative. These are qualities I strive to model and work to instill in my organization and my team.
