About Robert McGuire

The great boxer Muhammad Ali once said, “The man who views the world at fifty the same as he did at twenty has wasted thirty years of his life.” I am creating my future, and I know that where I am now, will not be where I will be in 30 years. I have no intention of wasting any time or any opportunity to move forward. As a recent graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, I am eager to continue my professional career, apply the knowledge and experience I have gained, and continue learning and developing in new and exciting ways. I have a major in history with a minor in business. Course work included: Economics, Business Management, Marketing, and Entrepreneurship. During my last year at VCU, I became increasingly interested in bringing business solutions to social issues. I completed my final semester at VCU as the pandemic of 2020 hit communities across the globe. After graduation, I began my professional journey as an Area Manager for Amazon, managing a team of up to sixty associates. During this time I led stand-up meetings each shift, gave weekly presentations to operations managers, and tracked productivity metrics, all while ensuring that both employee safety and customer satisfaction were met. Having many different deadlines and priorities reinforced my planning capabilities, as well as the value I bring to a team. Specifically, I would bring value to any team through the following ways- Approach problems pragmatically and innovatively- Collaborate across and within teams to bring about an optimal solution- Motivate teams by setting the example for hard work while working smart- Quickly assess situations and plan a logical process for moving forward- Use appropriate communication and engagement across all levels of an organization- Deftly learn new methods, concepts, and tools and apply them in ways to drive performance and outcomes. My education and experience support my desire to join a team of people who are focused on results and look to innovate, create, and impact the world substantially. I am an entrepreneur at heart and look at situations and tangible products with an eye towards “How can I improve on that?
