About Robert Myre

I didn't make a conscious decision to become a content developer and strategist. Instead, I found my way into the field almost by accident, and have cultivated a dynamic career for over 30 years. I've seen many changes, from the days when cut and paste were literally done with scissors and a glue stick, and the writing style was so system-centric that we slammed everything we could possibly think of into the documentation (I think I did write about a kitchen sink once.) Today, the technology is beyond anything we could have envisioned in 1990, and we're now writing in a much more user-centered, minimalist, and conversational way. Most recently, I've been:* Leading a team of content developers creating content for multiple user roles, across multiple deliverable types.* Creating Amazon Alexa-based voice skills, using Node.js and Amazon Web Services, and focusing on the specific needs of conversational, voice-based content.* Managing a large scale DITA-based component content management system implementation, including the content strategy/architecture, legacy content migration, transform development, training, and localization.* Leading a cross-departmental team that gathers and analyzes usage and behavioral analytics to inform content decisions.I hold an MS in Professional and Technical Communication and a BS in Computer Science from the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) where I’ve also been an adjunct professor, teaching graduate-level courses in content management, information architecture, and mLearning design.
