About Robert Nichols

Law Enforcement supervisor with over 20 years experience in a variety of specialties. I have been fortunate to have worked in the Patrol Bureau, Part-Time Marine Unit Deckhand, Criminal Investigations, Tactical Unit, Special Investigations - Intelligence Unit and as the Bomb Squad Commander. I have experience working a range of criminal investigations from simple thefts to homicide. I specialized in working both tactical and strategic investigations which included covert, overt and technical surveillance. During my 15 years as an FBI Certified Hazardous Devices Technician, and as the Bomb Squad Commander, I was responsible for leading a 5 person team to investigate suspicious devices, conduct explosive sweeps, conduct training, dignitary protection, post-blast investigations and conduct render safe operations to mitigate explosive threats. I was also responsible for a budget of approximately including purchase of training/operating supplies, explosives and capital expenses for response vehicles and robots. In my current role as the Intelligence Unit Sergeant, I am also assigned duties as the Automatic License Plate Reader Coordinator and the Sarasota Crime Stoppers Coordinator. I also have a passion for Amateur Radio (Ham) and making contacts and friends throughout the world. My FCC assigned call sign is KO4HHJ. I was recently selected as an instructor for Texas A&M, teaching the WMD/Hazmat Operations Course. I am honored to have been selected to give back to the community that I worked in for 15 years.
