I am a freelance engineering consultant now, with strong ties to both Geovision Geophysical Services and Brandow & Nastar Structural Engineers. I consult and advise in the areas of earthquake and vibration monitoring, earthquake engineering, forensic engineering, and applied geophysics for domestic and international clients. I recently retired from UCLA's Civil Engineering Department, where I supervised graduate students, taught undergraduate earthquake engineering, and lead research activities in the general area of experimental structural dynamics and earthquake engineering. I was Co-PI and Manager of the NEES@UCLA facility and staff. I am still involved in ongoing research projects including implementation of rotational seismic measurements, real-time remote monitoring of Watts Towers, and updating of structural models using monitoring data.
