About Robert Olson
After many years of teaching in public education, I was ready for a change in 2021: I wanted to try something new or work in another context. I retired on June 12th, drew my pension, and worked in a full-time position as a Covid screener at Hillsdale Hospital while looking for other options. I interacted with a minimum of patients a week, everyone who entered the hospital. The people at the hospital seemed to like me. On November 5, 2021, I was awarded 'The Heart of Hillsdale Hospital' Award from the President and CEO. During the seven months I worked at the hospital, I gradually grew to understand how deeply I missed teaching. So, in the spring of 2022, I accepted a full-time high school English position at Lenawee Christian Schools. I have been so grateful to be back in the classroom and am now convinced that is where I belong. I hope to teach for ten more years, either at Lenawee or somewhere else.
