About Robert Piagentini

I am a retired Marine who specializes in maintaining and improving complex engineering and facilities systems in a safe, timely, and profitable manner. I approach systems from the "person" perspective, seeking to understand what is done by the people and why before working improvement to a system. I've noticed that, as Dr. Thomas Sowell pointed out decades ago, a poor system is often the result of well meaning people individually doing what they perceive as right, even though it sometimes leads to a sub-optimal outcome. I believe he called it "Systemic Causation". Understanding that most people in a system mean well results in an approach where the system is improved, not the people blamed. This nests into current PPI programs as well as 5S and Six Sigma methodologies.
