About Robert Pugh

I’ve spent the last 17+ years working across the telecoms and infrastructure sectors, with a focus on planning, design, and delivery of complex networks—from fibre rollouts to major rail communications projects. Today, I lead the Planning function at BDS Global, where I’m proud to have built and scaled teams that support national programmes and strategic growth areas. I’ve played a key role in the delivery of Virgin Media’s MDU and FTTx expansion programmes, as well as legacy network migrations and infill strategies—helping to drive delivery across a range of fast-paced, high-impact projects. One of the things I’m most proud of is creating and growing our Business Connection Planning capability from the ground up. What started as an interim workstream during the pandemic evolved into a fully-fledged service line—supporting direct business connections and helping clients meet challenging delivery targets through smarter planning and coordination. It was hugely rewarding to see this become a core part of what we offer. Before stepping into leadership roles, I spent time in the detail of network design—cutting my teeth on the Network Rail FTN project and working through all GRIP stages. That hands-on experience still shapes how I approach challenges today: with a focus on clear planning, practical problem-solving, and long-term scalability.
