About Robert Rendzio

Mr. Rendzio holds an advanced degree in Systems Management and an undergraduate degree in Safety from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. His expertise is in specialized aviation safety to include support for aerial intelligence operations and technical software. Rendzio retired from the Army in 1993 where he specialized in aviation safety. In 1984 he was assigned to the Army Safety Center (analogous to being on a Go-Team with the NTSB) and investigated over 150 major accidents. Rendzio additionally specialized in Halogenated chemicals and was considered an authority on helicopter wire strikes having published on both subjects. Rendzio accumulated over hours in various helicopters and airplanes and his career culminated with work in intelligence surveillance reconnaissance (ISR) operations world-wide. During his career he earned a master’s degree in systems management and during his career was awarded various military honors to include the prestigious Legion of Merit. After retirement in1993 Rendzio formed Safety Research Corporation of America that provided aircraft accident investigation support to various customers including the DOJ. Concurrently with investigative work he was considered an expert in airborne navigation systems and retained by Science Application International Corporation (SAIC) as a consultant in providing the steerage on issues related to avionics' requirements and other matters. This also led to interaction with the Intelligence and Security Command (INSCOM) regarding specialized aircraft to include providing support technologies and certification support. SRCA developed original Minimum Equipment Lists for INSCOM that are still in use today. Since its beginning SRCA has grown from a single employee (owner) to almost 15 that include programmers, graphic artists and program managers, and system safety engineering personnel. This has included expansion in supporting aerial intelligence operations and specialized safety support for activities both in and outside the United States. Rendzio additionally teaches at both the University of Southern California, has taught with the NTSB, was on the Rotorcraft Occupant Protection Working Group (ROPWG) and is a voting member on an FAA Aviation Rulemaking Advisory Committee (ARAR). He owns and flies his own light twin aircraft and maintains currency in all aviation endeavors.
