About Robert Sochowski

For more than 25 years, I have excelled at bringing people together to identify and solve problems while encouraging opportunities for greater collaboration. I have provided organizational leadership and strategic recommendations regarding staff management, as well as capital planning strategies for prioritizing provincial infrastructure expenses and capital funding. I also managed teams of technical and trades staff, developed provincial technical building design standards, troubleshot escalating technical issues, established policies, and managed projects. Further, my experiences and perspectives in working within both the building industry and the education sector place me in the unique position of being able to look through the lens of a learner, researcher, educator, leader, and industry stakeholder. This perspective allows me to connect with all audiences to build effective and sustainable relationships through complex and sensitive situations, as well as to develop and initiate strategic plans. Specialties: My experiences and perspectives working for the public sector—from managing staff to solving problems in complex situations—have allowed me to network with stakeholders to apply research on sustainable solutions to address consistent design standards, budgeting issues based on location, aging infrastructure maintenance requirements, and safety. I have also served on many different types of industry panels (both technical and social) that have helped to influence the ways in which technology is applied in both the industry and education communities.
