About Robert Tomei

Robert is a lifelong Lake County, Illinois resident, and calls Gurnee his hometown. He has been practicing law since 2012 when he opened up his solo practice, Tomei Law, with a focus on consumer rights, foreclosure defense, debt defense, real estate transactions and litigation. In 2018, Robert became a partner and co-founder of the Law Firm of Johnston Tomei Lenczycki & Goldberg, LLC, a full-service law firm. In addition to real estate litigation and transactions, Robert has continued to practice consumer rights law, representing consumers in various business related disputes, with major car dealerships, manufacturers, corporate entities, and financial institutions in both State and Federal Court. Robert is now focusing on the passion that got him into the practice of law in the first place: civil rights law. He has represented individuals in cases involving Title VII Discrimination, First Amendment, statutory due process, as well as Constitutional due process related claims. During the course of his career, Robert has involved himself in various community engagements. He has been a member of a number of professional associations and has co-chaired two committees at the Lake County Bar Association. In April of 2021, in a county-wide election, Robert was elected to the College of Lake County Board of Trustees to a two-year term where he has employed his legal skills and experience on many complex College matters. He is a member of the National Association of Consumer Advocates, the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, the Association of Foreclosure Defense Attorneys, the Lake County Bar Association, and the Illinois State Bar Association. Robert is admitted to practice law in the State of Illinois as well as the Northern District of Illinois. Robert graduated with a B.A. in English Studies with Honors from Illinois State University in 2009 and received his J.D. from the Northern Illinois University College of Law, where he was published in a peer reviewed article, graduating Cum Laude, in 2012.
