My daily tasks have included in court litigation, research on Westlaw/LexisNexis and writing, motion practice, client contact, witness interviews, public record requests, crime scene examinations, and depositions including: law enforcement, lay witnesses, medical examiners, and fire rescue/EMTs. I have sat first chair and solo in multiple jury trials, non-jury trials, and Stand Your Ground Hearings. I have consistently had sole responsibility and no oversight with high volume caseloads including violent crimes, sex offenses, DUI, drug trafficking, elder exploitation, and many other serious offenses. My positions have also required some civil work; in public practice I handled involuntary civil commitment hearings for clients alleged to be mentally ill and presenting a danger to themselves or others, and in private practice, handling civil infractions including those resulting in death or serious bodily injury. Each one of these cases has presented their own unique challenges and a diversity of clients across the full spectrum of class, status, and identity.
