About Robert Z.

As a Graduate Assistant for Religious and Spiritual Life at GWU, I spearhead interfaith programming grounded in shared values, promoting understanding and cooperation among diverse religious communities. I am deeply committed to amplifying marginalized voices. I advocate for inclusive spaces and support networks for students from various religious backgrounds, drawing from my academic focus in Peace and Conflict Studies and Islamic Studies. In addition, I serve as the Events Officer at Who is Hussain (WIH), leading initiatives rooted in ethical principles to address pressing societal challenges such as hunger, homelessness, and youth empowerment within the DC community. Building on my academic foundation, I navigate the complexities of human rights advocacy within the context of Islamic jurisprudence, collaborating with international stakeholders, particularly at the Torture Abolition and Survivor Support Coalition (TASSC), to protect survivors of torture and advance global policy initiatives. Additionally, I have collaborated with organizations such as the Endangered Species Coalition and Peace Culture Village, advocating for wildlife conservation and nuclear disarmament while fostering cross-cultural understanding. My work combines academic rigor with practical experience. I am dedicated to bridging the gap between theory and practice, striving for tangible solutions to complex societal issues. I am excited to further explore the intersections of religion, law, and human rights, and I am driven to contribute meaningfully to initiatives that promote equality, justice, and interfaith cooperation on a global scale.
