About Roberta Allan

Roberta Allan is a senior screen executive, leading content strategy and program acquisitions at the ABC. As Head of Programming, Acquisitions and Streaming, she is responsible for the content strategy for ABC iview and broadcast channels including ABC TV. Roberta is consistently working to enhance the ABC iview audience experience. The ABC broadcast channels Roberta oversees are: ABC TV, ABC Entertains, ABC Kids and ABC Family. The ABC is the country’s leading commissioner of Australian content and Roberta has a key role as a member of its commissioning team, working across scripted, factual, arts, events and children’s content. Roberta has considerable programming experience at leading Foxtel subscription channels. Immediately prior to starting at the ABC in 2020, she worked for BBC Studios Australia. In her first year there, she was chosen to participate in its Emerging Leaders program: a group of 20 staff from around the world who met for week-long sessions, four times a year. She was with the BBC for six years. Prior to that, she worked for eight years in a range of roles for highly successful subscription channels. She holds a Graduate Diploma in Management from the Australian Graduate School of Management. Roberta has a passion for the business of television and broadcasting: from ratings and rights to editorial choices.
