I have been doing personal income taxes since 1970. I took the Enrolled Agents exam in 1985 and passed it on the first try. In 1992 we began offering IRS efile to accountants and financial institutions as a service bureau and took on the name CPR Systems at that time. We got actively involved in efiling and were at one time efiling over returns a year in addition to the returns prepared in our office. I started doing payroll taxes and accounting work for small business clients in 1981, when payroll checks were written out by hand using withholding booklets. As things became more automated and computerized we began offering payroll from start to finish, allowing the small business owners we serve to spend more time running their business and less on payroll and tax issues.
