About Roberto Bruschi
Roberto Bruschi was born in Genoa, Italy, in 1977. He received his "laurea" degree (equivalent to MSc) in Telecommunication Engineering in 2002, and the Ph.D. degree in Electronic Engineering in 2006 from the University of Genoa. The title of the Ph.D. thesis was "Traffic Models and Optimization Mechanisms for Triple-Play Backbone Networks", and the Ph.D. advisors were Prof. Raffaele Bolla and Prof. Franco Davoli. He is currently a researcher of the National Inter-University Consortium for Telecommunications, and works with the Telematics and Telecommunication Networks Lab.(TNT) at the University of Genoa. Roberto is the Principal Investigator of the GreenNet project, funded by the Italian Ministry of Research and Education under the FIRB "Futuro in Ricerca" program (access rate <3%). He took part to the activities of many national and European projects (e.g, FP7 IP ECONET, FP7 NoE TREND, PRIN SORPASSO and EFFICIENT). In the ECONET project, he served as project manager, and he leaded also four technical tasks. Roberto actively collaborates with many industries, such as Telecom Italia, NetLogic, Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, etc, and industrial fora, like GeSI, and standardization bodies (mainly ITU-T and ETSI). He has co-authored over 100 papers in international journals, book chapters and international conference proceedings (among others, the Transactions on Networking and on Network and Service Management, the Communications and Network Magazines, the international journals Computer Networks, and Communications Surveys and Tutorials, QoS-IP, ICC, Globecom, HPSR, NGI Conferences and SIGCOMM workshops). He also acts as reviewer for many different international journals and conferences. In 2009, Roberto won the best paper award at the ICC conference, and in 2010 at the GreenCom workshop. His current main research interests include green networking, SDN, NFV and Edge Computing.
