About Roberto Gamboa

Roberto Carlos Marçal Gamboa, borne 1969, is Professor Coordenador of the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria (IPLeiria) at the ESTM-Peniche. He has the Aggregation in Energy and Environment - Energy and Sustainable development in Lisbon University (2015) and a PhD in Physics (2001) from Lisbon University, has a Post-graduation in Dirección Estratégica de Universidades, Universitat Politécnica de Catalunya, Barcelona (2008), participated in Summer Courses: on Nanotechnology in the Oxford University (2009), on Creativity and Learning in the JAMK in Finland (2013), between 2013 and 2019 coordinated a summer course in Heritage and Creativity in ESTM-IPLeiria. Roberto Gamboa is a researcher integrated in MARE-IPLeiria since January 2015. Was also an integrated researcher in the Centre for Sustainable Energy Systems of the University of Lisbon, SESUL, from 2007 to 2013 and other centres of Lisbon University since 2001. Roberto is co–author of one European and one American Patent and several scientific papers published in international journals and conference proceedings. Roberto Gamboa was President elected of the scientific board of the ESTM-IPLeiria, from January 2007 to March 2013, was also elected twice for the “General Board” of Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, between November 2008 and may 2021. He participated in several European Projects, and coordinated the Portuguese participation in the PITCH Strategic partnership (2019-2022), CIM Knowledge Alliance (2018-2020), BADGES, Strategic Partnership (2017-2019), PROMOTE Knowledge Alliance (2014-2016) and IMPACT Strategic partnership (2014-2016) and earlier the “eSEC/Competency based e-portal of Security and Safety Engineering“(2009-2012); He also co-organized several international meetings like the “2007 C3P & NASA technical workshop or the “International Meeting on Marine Resources, IMMR 09 and IMMR 10”, in ESTM-IPLeiria. As volunteer, participated in the Europeana Task Force: “a powerful platform for storytelling” and in the video “7 Digital Storytelling tips for Cultural Heritage sector” (may 2021, Since 1994 Roberto is also a volunteer in a local association related to music and heritage.
