About Roberto Maurizzi

I’m an information technology professional with over 25 years’ experience, last 11 of which spent working mostly with Python/Django, Javascript frontend code, and exploring (and sometimes bringing to production) data science and machine learning tools. My professional career was built working in a variety of roles in industries of all sizes, where I planned, designed, wrote and maintained a variety of software and hardware systems. I’m used to cover both developer and sysadmin roles and I think that's the only way to have a clear picture of how complex IT systems work. I like to work in environments where I can learn and use new tools and technologies and I'm usually fascinated by the business rules of different industry types. I support adopting good software development lifecycle practices, particularly when it comes to documentation, integrated testing and changes traceability. Using git is mandatory, keeping documentation in wikis generated from the source code very desirable. Continuous system monitoring and data analysis to detect problems before they become disasters is the way to go. Contingency plans should be ready for when bad stuff happens.
