About Roberto Mirabal

In my years of undergraduate and graduate studies, I had gain a extensive knowledge and experience in materials science, chemistry, and mechanical engineering in general, and surface engineering, coatings (PVD, CVD, Sol-Gel), and the tribology-mechanical and biotribocorrosion area in particular. During my Ph.D. and M.Sc. research, I have been working in numerous research projects, in the Plasnamat group and with different international universities and researchers, dealing with solid and liquid lubricants as well as thin and thick coatings for different applications. Through these diverse projects, I have acquired wide-ranging knowledge and experience in many types of surface analytical, mechanical, biological and tribological tools; I have contributed to large project reports, key scientific publications. Attending different scientific conferences (National and International in the material science area); I have also gained good communication skills in oral and poster presentations, published several papers for scientific journals, and collaborated with scientists of different areas and cultures. My areas of interest/expertise are: high performance tribological, bio and corrosion coatings, nanolubrication, Photovoltaics properties, thin film deposition, super hard coatings, nanocomposite materials, corrosion resistance coatings, biocompatible materials. I am constantly in the search of new and inspiring opportunities for using the knowledge and experience I gain for the benefit of the general public.
