About Roberto Perez

As an accessibility engineer, I work with business owners, designers, developers and QA testers to help create software that is inclusive of people with disabilities. I also spent several years in the field of vocational rehabilitation training blind people in the use of assistive technology. I bring to the table that combined experience together with my unique perspective as a blind engineer to help design products that are not only in compliance with existing accessibility standards such as WCAG 2.1 or the U.S. section 508, but also result in a good user experience for disabled users. I approach digital accessibility as something that adds great value to the product by promoting software quality and a superior user experience, laying the ground for a more inclusive society. I am passionate about disability inclusion and the technologies that make digital accessibility possible such as WAI ARIA and the various accessibility APIs for desktop and native mobile applications.
