About Robin Bonthrone

I have been a full-time professional financial-legal translator for more than 35 years, specializing in particular in financial accounting and reporting (IFRSs/IASs and German, Austrian, and Swiss GAAP), financial regulation and supervision, financial legislation, financial technology, and tax law. I now also offer translations in the field of sustainability reporting (CSRD, ESRS) and have attended virtual training courses to advance my expertise in this area. I formerly served as President of the Austin Area Translators and Interpreters Association (aatia.net). and stepped down in December 2023 at the end of my third term. I was elected Treasurer of the American Translators Association (atanet.org) at its 64th Annual Conference in Miami, Florida, in October 2023 for a two-year term. I chair the ATA Finance & Audit Committee and the ATA Ethics Committee. I am a certified translator (ATA CT) and am also a member (MITI) by examination of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting in the UK, after passing the ITI's membership exam in 2015, in both cases for German into English. I have been training translators and interpreters in presentations and preconference seminars at conferences organized by professional translator and interpreter associations in Europe and the United States since the late 1990s, as well as workshops, masterclasses, and webinars organized by professional associations, and in-house training events organized by listed companies and public-sector institutions in Europe.
