About Robin Lerner

As the Senior Director of Academic Engagement at Microsoft, I lead collaboration and engagement with academic scholars across the full spectrum of higher education in support of Microsoft's main policy priorities. This role allows me to leverage my extensive experience in international education, public policy, and human rights to help Microsoft innovate while also building trusted and trustworthy technology. Prior to joining Microsoft, I spent 20+ years building my leadership skills in the U.S. Government and non-profits. I am known for reforming institutions, negotiating multilateral agreements, driving innovative policy solutions and leading effective teams. My passion and portfolio is in higher education and workforce development, international diplomacy, public service, gender equity, and human rights. With experience in the public and private sectors, I bring success leading large and small teams, building new and reforming failing programs, managing consensus among disparate stakeholders, and finding creative ways to yes. My experience as the chief regulator for the J-1 Visa industry taught me to manage legal risk and strategy, and create partnerships with academia and industry. I am a decision-maker, not afraid to make tough choices when informed by research and evidence. I am passionate about strategic thinking, maximizing opportunity and lifting up the underdog. I strive for collaboration and diversity and a team that works hard to make a difference.
