About Robin Nelson

I took a position at Families First as an administrative manager, gathering data, overseeing regulations and generating reports. I developed that department into a strong compliance program and information department. As Families First continues to grow in this ever-changing political and economic climate, so do my responsibilities and areas of knowledge and interests. My personal mission and the mission of my department is to ensure that families receive quality care while the agency also remains insulated and in compliance with myriad laws, rules and regulations. I have worked in the not-for-profit sector since 2003 in many capacities. I started in this field with an educational background in liberal studies, and with a lifetime of lived experience. My focus has and continues to be community-based services for youth and their families. I started providing direct services to families with youth facing multiple behavioral challenges. I moved from direct services into various supervisory/management roles in direct services and now, although I am the compliance officer, I still do “back-up” work in direct services, occasionally. It’s nice to be able to be in touch with the youth and families being an office-based staff member.
