About Robin Rone

With over 10 years of experience in leading associations and nonprofit organizations, I am passionate about driving diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and association excellence at Smithbucklin, the nation's largest association management company. As the Head of DEI, I lead the development and implementation of strategy and policies across the company to ensure progress on DEI goals and objectives. I also engage executive directors and client boards of directors in support of client DEI initiatives and chair Smithbucklin's inCouncil, the company's DEI advisory board. As the Sr. Director of Association Management, I serve as the executive director for Apra International, one of Smithbucklin's association management clients. I develop strategies to support membership growth and retention, content development, educational programming, and other key membership and industry activities. I oversee a $3 million operational budget and lead a 15-person team of association professionals. I leverage my strategic communication skills, writing skills, and speech writing skills to balance the needs of varied constituencies and to manage large-scale projects. I have a master's degree in American Studies from The George Washington University and a bachelor's degree in English from Howard University. I also hold a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate from USF Corporate Training and Professional Education and a certificate in Understanding and Supporting ADHD Colleagues in the Workplace from LinkedIn.
