About Robyn James

Climate change and environmental loss are not gender-neutral. We can only address climate change and our biodiversity crisis by fixing systems that still privilege and give voice to those least impacted. We need to diversify the people at the table making decisions about our planet.I am a climate and social justice specialist with extensive experience across Asia Pacific and Africa.I have worked in government, academia, and civil society to advance gender equity and inclusion in climate and environmental action. I lead and support conservation and climate work that centres social and gender equity. I collaborate in more than 20 countries—including Australia, Papua New Guinea, and Solomon Islands—to centre gender equality and social justice so that women and gender diverse people can benefit, make decisions, and, at a minimum, not be harmed by climate and conservation actions.I recently completedmy PhD at the University of Queensland’s School of Social Sciences, focusing on gender equality in conservation and climate and lead research in this area.
