About Robyn Klemptner

Being the new marketing manager for the Acacdemy of Sound Engineering has been the best 5 months of my career and I have the privilege to work with the top people in the industry. I was previously a marketing coordinator with Kumon Education South Africa, a Japanese educational franchising company. My previous job title at the company was Area development manager and have been with the company for 4 and a half years now. I transitioned over to the corporate environment after many years in science academia. Prior to my employment at Kumon, I was an MSc student at the University of Johannesburg, my project dealt with the analysis of differential phosphoprotein expression in A.thaliana when elicited with a fungal sterol. I was using a novel method of phosphopeptide enrichment to isolate differentially expressed phosphopeptides and identify them by means of LC-MS/MS. Unfortunately due to financial restraints I had to abandon my MSc. My undergraduate studies encompassed a multitude of subjects, my majors being Biochemistry and Human Physiology. Upon finishing my BSc I then completed a BSc Honours degree in Biochemistry where my research project focused on RNA isolation (and cDNA synthesis) from A.thaliana that had been treated with the same fungal sterol I am currently using for my masters studies. The switch from molecular biology/ genomics to proteomics had enabled me to broaden my knowledge of biochemical techniques. I do look forward to returning to the field of science one day soon.
