Since the day I joined Distress Centre Calgary over 10 years ago, I have felt inspired every day to help advance the local non-profit sector and the ways its stakeholders work together to empower everyday people with the resources they need to make positive change in their own lives and beyond. The highlights of my work over the last 10 years include: Developing the Calgary 211 service to become a provincially recognized Crisis and Navigation Hub with province-wide reach and social planning data capabilities, Driving key Disaster Management practices and enhancing continued operations of Distress Centre’s 24/7 infrastructure during the 2013 Calgary flood, 2016 Alberta wildfires, and the COVID-19 pandemic, Introducing innovative solutions to strengthen our community and leverage technology while addressing emerging community needs and social issues. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought us new challenges as well as new opportunities. At this turning point for the social services sector in Alberta, I am very excited to leverage my 10+ years’ experience developing high-performing teams, scaling our key service programs, and driving community partnerships to amplify Distress Centre’s long standing social impact and help shape the future of our community.
