In January 2022, I began work as the editor for the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at Houston Methodist Hospital. The office focuses on helping the hospital system create, promote and foster a workplace environment in which the unique skills, experiences and beliefs of the more than Houston Methodist employees are valued and respected. I'm very pleased to be in a position to use my skills to help craft and plan the messaging for this new department devoted to creating a more equitable future. I could never completely leave journalism, of course, so I continue to work as a freelance journalist and author as a contributor to several publications, including Living Blues magazine.
