About Rodney McBeath

I've been employed by Gerdau - Midlothian (formerly Chaparral Steel) for almost 30 years. Gerdau is a leading scrap metal recycler and manufacturer of high quality steel products. I currently hold a general foreman level role in the Quality Assurance department. In this role I am responsible for making sure production orders are created and executed with the goal of balancing inventory levels and on-time customer delivery. I am also responsible for maintaining the location's quality program and execution of internal audits. I am the regional subject matter expert on SAP in regards to the production environment and user interface. In 2012 the Midlothian site was the first Gerdau plant in North America to go live with SAP. I was part of the implementation team that planned and executed the change. Today we are enjoying the benefits of SAP, largely due to the efforts of that team. Before 2012, I spent about 10 years managing the quality system through ISO revisions, led a team to bring our Petersburg, VA mill to ISO registration and supervised the Midlothian materials test labs. Prior to that I was a senior analyst with the quality department. My entire 25 year career has been within the quality group and it has been my privilege. I’m very passionate about my work and always eager to connect with other quality or SAP specialists. While I enjoy all aspects of my job, I think my favorite thing to do is connect with others with similar roles and interests so that we may share what we have learned - streamlining the continuous improvement process. I've always said that I want to learn at least one thing from each person I meet.I hold a BAAS degree from Tarleton State University.I’m always interested in hearing from former colleagues, people in similar roles, or just interesting or creative people, so feel free to contact me if you’d like to connect.
