I see this is best achieved through the planning of a diverse program and then the demands that the coaching staff place on the players on a daily basis, creating resilient players who run harder and think faster than the opposition. This is attained through a continual process of coach education, mentoring and staff development opportunities, with the same demands and expectations placed on the staff to work relentlessly in the pursuit of creating elite players capable of coping with the demands of first team football. Highlights to date. • 12 Scotland Youth International Players progressed into Hearts XI in Scottish Premier League in 5 years; notably:*Aaron Hickey (17) – 33 matches, Harry Cochrane (19) – 32 matches & Andy Irving (20) – 32 matches • Hand picked to successfully rebuild the Heart of Midlothian FC Academy following administration in 2013 to be only one of 2 clubs to achieve Elite 1 Academy Status in Scotland in 2018 • Proud to be the first Club in Scotland to fully integrate a girls and womens Academy into the football department (2019), successfully overseeing promotion to the SWPL1 in 1st Season • Part of the ‘Project Brave’ working group in Scotland, tasked with re-shaping Elite Youth Development in Scottish Football
