Background

About Roger Goodliff

A director with Ferguson Mann Architects, Roger joined in 1998 having worked in London since 1985 with Jeremy Dixon: Edward Jones and others as well as working in his own right. Initially trained in building management, he now leads the placemaking, mixed-use and workspace sectors within the practice. Roger is also a board member of Acanthus Architects, the network of associated practices covering the whole of the UK. Roger’s involvement in projects is very much ‘hands-on’ where he leads much of the design development at critical stages. Whilst focusing on regeneration, his experience includes the preparation of masterplans and numerous feasibility studies, as well as taking major schemes through to completion on site. This includes major projects in Bristol, Bath, Swansea, Gloucester, Manchester and Plymouth for leading developers and other clients, with many receiving design and other awards. He is currently leading the masterplanning of Millbay Regeneration Project for English Cities Fund in Plymouth within the practice as well as creative workspace schemes at Newark Works in Bath (part of the Bath Quays development), refurbishment of a listed office building in Reading, a new rural business development near Bicester and the refurbishment of two industrial buildings in Brighton. Other projects where Roger has played a leading role include Shaftesbury Park (the relocation of Dings Crusaders Rugby Club to Frenchay), Zerodegrees Restaurant & Microbrewery in Bristol, feasibilities studies for a number of sports pavilions/developments and various private residential houses/ extensions/ refurbishments in the Cotswolds. Roger is an accomplished photographer, focusing on architecture and sport.
