About Roger Jelinek

I was pulling sales from our Data Warehouse through pivot tables to find category trends. And unlike the hundreds of times before, I finally thought to myself 'This is very inefficient'. I discovered Data Science that night, enrolled in a Master's program two weeks later and never looked back. After being allowed to work remotely while finishing school, I'm glad to be back in the office supporting a transition to data driven decision making. I make it a priority to engage other departments and be curious about what kinds of data we have, where it's coming from, and the insights that can be derived by combining and analyzing disparate data sources. When I'm not prodding other departments for their data, I'm working on weather analysis (demand and inventory planning), the Google Analytics / Big Query / Data Studio connection (SQL and dashboarding), and developing my Machine Learning skill set. I've also taken on the task of reverse-engineering a dormant Google Cloud Platform account, allowing me to learn Infrastructure and utilize my background in Linux.
