About Roger Newenham

A scholar at Christ’s College, Cambridge, I earned M.A. and M.Eng. degrees in Chemical Engineering and worked as a chemical engineer for Courtaulds, Foster Wheeler Energy Limited and British Petroleum gaining wide ranging experience in refining, petrochemicals, fertilizers, fibres and the nuclear industry. Since 1992 I have worked as a “downstream” consultant covering refining, petrochemicals and gas based chemicals for Chem Systems, Jacobs Consulting and Charles Rivers Associates before establishing my own consulting company in 2010 and then working as an “internal consultant” in SABIC’s Corporate Strategy and Planning Function. Most recently, as a director in the corporate strategy group of SABIC, the world’s most profitable and 5th largest commodity petrochemical company, I was a senior member of the team which developed, delivered, communicated and began implementation of SABIC’s 2025 corporate strategy to achieve profitable growth in excess of global GDP rates whilst also changing the $50+ billion corporation to make it fit for the future. My career experience covers most key aspects of the petrochemical and refining industries from strategy development to R&D, M&A, project development, project finance support, market analysis, etc, whilst operating within all types of team configurations.
