About Roger Reeves

I have been fortunate to work in the Australian energy industry during a period of constant change. Coming from state owned enterprises in the mid 1990’s transitioning into a de-regulated energy market. Privately owned generators, distribution businesses and energy retailers for end use consumers choosing to provide their retail associated services. Starting my journey in this industry in an accounting role, I realised that I preferred the energy retail sector facing large customers and assisting them with their retail service requirements. This helped me work with some great companies in varied roles:• Account Management in Yallourn Energy / AusPower growing a retail business and being one of the first Gentailers in the market.• Business Development in Country Energy acquiring new customers in the Government and Commercial sectors.• Network Relations in AGL managing the relationships between retail customers and distribution businesses during a time of significant industry IT system upgrades and changes.• Business Development in Momentum Energy growing a retail business for large customers and contributing to a fast-tracked sale to Hydro Tasmania.The 2010’s saw the industry start to focus on opportunities associated with energy generated from renewable sources as compared to an agnostic approach. This enabled new business models where retail customers could contract with a solar or wind farm and agree a contract for retail services as well.• I led the Pacific Blue retail business to negotiate one of the first Retail Power Purchase Agreements in Australia with the Melbourne Renewable Energy Partnership which resulted in the construction of Crowlands Wind Farm.I was able to gain valuable international experience in the Innogy / RWE business. They provided for direct agreements with end use customers under the traditional Wholesale Power Purchase Agreement as a contract for difference (CfD) structure. • This included the emerging sector of the utility scale battery storage becoming a viable option for renewable energy assets as well as standalone.• I was privileged to be able to work across many markets in Asia Pacific, Europe and North America evaluating contract opportunities for many global businesses.In my most recent role I was able to learn more about the emerging utility scale battery storage market at the development and construction level.Moving forward I am excited about what the next role brings in both directions:• Where the industry goes from here.• How I can help customers achieve their renewable energy goals.
